GTA 6 fans have been on full alert since Rockstar Games suffered the massive leak that showed a lot of production material from the new game in the acclaimed series.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick spoke about the GTA 6 leaks and how it affected Rockstar in an interview with the website IGN. Zelnick described the leak as “really upsetting and frustrating for the team,” but it did not affect the company or the game from a business standpoint.

Take-Two CEO talks about Grand Theft Auto 6 leak

Strauss Zelnick, stated in an interview for IGN USA that the GTA 6 leak last year was not taken lightly in the office. According to the professional, everyone took it “emotionally” and treated it with the seriousness it needed to be treated with.

Zelnick believes that this will not affect the strategic issue of production to marketing at all, however he also reveals that the team took the whole situation personally. It is not publicly known how long the entire Rockstar team and T2 have been working on the title, but considering that it will be 10 years of GTA V in 2023, it might be a really long project that they have in hand.

Grand Theft Auto 6: Leaks had an emotional impact on the team

Strauss Zelnick – CEO of Take-Two, or Rockstar Games’ parent company – recently spoke about how much the leaks of Grand Theft Auto 6 influenced the company, revealing that from an economic standpoint there were no repercussions. The problem was mainly related to the morale of the GTA 6 team.

“We take the leaks very seriously and we are disappointed with what happened, it’s really frustrating and upsetting for the team,” Strauss Zelnick said of GTA 6. “However, from a business standpoint, we are not affected by this, but emotionally our teams are affected by this .”

In other words, certainly one leak isn’t enough to shake the success of GTA and more generally Take-Two, but for the developers it’s unfortunate that a preliminary version of their work ends up on the internet and is judged without knowledge of the facts by some gamers.

While the GTA 6 leaks have not particularly impacted Take-Two, the company has decided to cut costs by about $50 million after reporting revenue of $1.38 billion in the recent quarter, up from the $1.41 expected. It’s unclear how this will play out, but Zelnick says some jobs may be at risk.

Change of scenery for Take-Two

With the big leak of Grand Theft Auto 6, many changes to the franchise were exposed to the public and Take-Two Interactive had to act immediately to avoid further damage. The videos showed a female protagonist, something new in the series, some details of its gameplay and even the city in which the game will take place. Rockstar has not yet officially confirmed any of these details.
