Answer: A clean install ensures that there are no file conflicts or permissions issues. Depending on the version, you will need to uninstall the game, delete any files or folders remaining in the installation directory and elsewhere, and reinstall the game.

See the steps below:

Social Club/Non Steam Version:

• Go to “Add/Remove Programs” to uninstall Grand Theft Auto V
• Go to the location where you installed Grand Theft Auto V (Default: C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto V\)
• Delete additional files/folders in this location

Steam Version :

• Run Steam and right click on Grand Theft Auto V
  Select Uninstall > Delete
• Go to the location where Steam installed Grand Theft Auto V (Default: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V\)
• Delete additional files/folders in this location

Social Club Files:

• Go to Social Club temporary files location (Default: C:\Users\<user.name>\Documents\Rockstar Games\Social Club)
• Delete all additional files/folders in this location
  When doing this, you will need to re-enter your credentials Social Club
  Archives/Additional Content:
• The following locations store game save data, settings, and recorded video created using Rockstar’s Video Editor.
• The AppData folder is hidden in Windows OS by default. Be sure to enable viewing hidden folders before attempting to remove the directories listed below.
• Please note that if they are not backed up, they cannot be recovered after they are deleted.
• Delete all additional files/folders in: C:\Users\<user.name>\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTAV
  Delete all additional files/folders in: C:\Users\<user.name>\AppData\Local\ Rockstar Games\GTAV

Reinstall:

After following the steps above, cleanly install the game.
