Quickly, the account was suspended from the social network, however, the curious thing is that someone actually paid $8 to fool thousands of people and fans who are eagerly awaiting GTA 6.


For the past few days, Twitter has been a real mess with paying Twitter accounts getting the verified stamp. As such, someone thought it would be a good idea to impersonate Rockstar Games and advertise GTA VI.

The account in question had the name Rockstar Games, and sported the Twitter verified seal. What would ultimately deliver the Fake News was the userneme that could go unnoticed by a fan excited about the supposed announcement of Grand Theft Auto 6.

Quickly, the account was suspended from the social network, however, the curious thing is that someone actually paid $8 to scam thousands of people and fans who are eagerly waiting for GTA 6.

The tweet was also composed in a formal tone, with many words and phrases taken from Rockstar’s newsletters. All of these elements, when combined, can easily fool inattentive users.

In recent days, Elon Musk announced after completing the purchase of Twitter, that the verification feature will now be paid for, as part of the Twitter Blue subscription. Thus, it will be enough for any user to pay $8 per month to have his or her account verified.

In short, GTA VI has had its development confirmed by Rockstar Games in early 2022, and is due to be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X and Windows PC.
